It is organized into 10 districts, each one determined by geographic boundaries. Within these districts are the districts. Some are characterized by ethnic and cultural heritage, others by lifestyle or industry.
Districts 1, 2 and 3 are on the western edge of San Francisco, and were among the last areas of the city to develop.
