Antique Oak

Best way to clean an old oak table?
I recently brought this old Bureau.I very solid old oak shook and then apply some brightness (without silicone), however I noticed a lot of black coming off the duster. The oak is also quite boring, so I guess there is a buildup of existence, in case of wax and dirt? That may have worsened the situation by putting more wax! A friend suggests I should wash the wood oak with warm water and add a little vinegar to the water? Is this the best thing to do? Comments and suggestions appreciated. Thank you, Thank you Rhianna, is there any way cleaning to remove dirt before placing the wax?
Hi Rhianna. I'd try a little olive oil on a dry cloth to the work of the 'land' then clear the extent possible with a clean and dry before waxing (although it is an inconspicuous area first.) You may be Briwax be useful. We use it in our dark Indian furniture. You can get different tones. It is a furniture polish with a light stain added so if you buy to match with wood that will not really change the color of the wood but is hidden and small areas of damage. Good luck! xx
